Myths About Our IGL Ceramic Coating Packages - DIY Marine & Auto Detailing
Myth 1: Ceramic coatings are self-healing against defects
There is a distinct difference between ceramic coating formulas and other types of auto paint and surface protection, namely how they hold up against defects and discrepancies. Ceramic coatings are a thicker, harder version of a vehicle clear coat, meaning their high hydrophobicity can stop staining from taking place but they CANNOT self-heal like a PPF.
Myth 2: You can ONLY coat vehicle paint with IGL formulas
IGL Ceramic Coatings are a liquid polymer to start, curing in a safe and environmentally friendly way on any vehicle surface they are applied to. Their nanoparticles find small divots in paint, glass, metal, and other areas, filling them to interlock during the curing process. With that being said, these coating formulas can easily be applied to ANY automobile surface successfully!
Myth 3: You can avoid detailing once installing a ceramic coating
This is only partially true, though avoiding detailing completely is not an option. Ceramic coatings and the nanotechnology that allows them to be water and contamination-resistant does help them stay clean safely, even if they are exposed to rain, mud, or road wash; however, you DO need to professionally detail them if they get messy so they do not get scratched.
